William Roed

William J. Roed graduated from the University of Arizona magna cum laude with Bachelors of Arts degree in Anthropology and Psychology.  He went on to achieve Masters degrees in Anthropology and History.  He taught at the community college level for 5 years before taking over as managing partner in Knox-Campbell Art Galleries in Tucson, AZ.  He has dealt extensively in Western and Southwestern works of art with an ever expanding interest in 19th and 20th century American and European fine art.

Mr. Roed has been a personal property appraiser since 1982.  He was a founder of the local chapter of the International Society of Appraisers.  After completion of the three core courses of the International Society of Appraisers under the auspices of Indiana University Independent Study Program, he was asked to prepare their course and exam for Arms and Armor.  He subsequently served for 3 years as an Independent Study Instructor for Indiana University.  Collecting antique weapons has been a lifelong avocation and Mr. Roed is frequently consulted by fellow appraisers in that field and in the field of fine art.

Mr. Roed has been associated with the American Society of Appraisers and has attended conferences and courses conducted by them.  He has been tested in the field of ethics and methodology, and in 1993 completed course work on Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and Professional Appraisal Ethics.

Mr. Roed frequently attends and follows auctions of fine art, clocks, and antique weapons, constantly studying the ever changing market and increasing the depth of his expertise in these fields.  He has considerable expertise in the appraising of personal property for estate and taxation purposes and in the brokerage of fine art and antiques in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.

Mr. Roed is co-owner of American Eagle Estate Sales, and in that capacity has conducted hundreds of estate sales in Southern Arizona since 1982.
